GLENCOE, Illinois – The thrilling conclusion of the 123rd Western Amateur at renowned Skokie Country Club will stream live on ESPN+ this year, giving golf fans an inside look at the intense competition and tradition of one of the world’s most historic amateur championships.

Starting with the Sweet 16 match play round, the Western Golf Association (WGA) will provide more than 12 hours of live streaming coverage on Friday, Aug. 1, and Saturday, Aug. 2. ESPN+ subscribers can watch via the ESPN app, ESPN.com or connected TV devices.

Presented by proud partners Club Champion, Morgan Stanley, Peter Millar and Titleist, coverage will stream exclusively in the U.S. on ESPN+, the leading sports streaming platform and home of PGA TOUR LIVE. Coverage will also be available in Canada on TSN+, and the Caribbean and Latin America on Disney+.

On Friday, Aug. 1, fans can tune in for the Sweet 16 matches from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. CT. Coverage will resume from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. CT for the finish of the quarterfinal matches.
On Saturday, Aug. 2, coverage of the two semifinal matches will run from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. CT. The championship match will be streamed in its entirety, with an approximate start time of 1 p.m. CT.

The coverage will include live action, player interviews, tournament highlights and features on the history of the WGA, the Western Amateur and Skokie Country Club. Thaler Media in Palm Beach, Florida, will produce the coverage with David Marr III and Tripp Isenhour in the booth, and 1999 Western Amateur champion Steve Scott reporting from the course.

First held in 1899, the Western Amateur is one of the most historic and challenging events in amateur golf. The competition includes two rounds of 18-hole stroke play on Tuesday and Wednesday, where the field then gets cut to the low 44 scores and ties. Those who make the cut will play a 36-hole stroke play round on Thursday to determine the Sweet 16. Four rounds of match play will crown a champion.

In 2024, streaming coverage included Auburn star Jackson Koivun, who has made five cuts in seven career PGA TOUR starts over the last 13 months. It also captured Florida teammates Ian Gilligan and Jack Turner battling across 29 holes to decide a champion in the longest final match in Western Amateur history. Gilligan won that match and is playing on the Korn Ferry Tour this season, while Turner is in the field again this year.

The 2025 Western Amateur will feature a standout field led by Ben James, currently ranked No. 2 in the World Amateur Golf Ranking (WAGR) and a quarterfinalist a year ago. A standout at Virginia, James earned PING First Team All-American honors during his junior season. He was also named a finalist for the Fred Haskins Award and a semifinalist for the Ben Hogan Award, both of which recognize the nation’s top collegiate golfer.

James has competed in nine PGA TOUR events, including the 2025 John Deere Classic and the U.S. Open at Oakmont Country Club, marking his second consecutive appearance in the U.S. Open through qualifying. Joining James are five of the top 10 players in the WAGR, including:

  • No. 3 Ethan Fang (Oklahoma State)
  • No. 4 Preston Stout (Oklahoma State)
  • No. 5 Tommy Morrison (Texas)
  • No. 9 Jase Summy (Oklahoma)
  • No. 10 Jack Turner (Florida)

The international field will feature players from 27 countries, including 64 competitors ranked inside the top 100 in the WAGR.
